New teaching methods in the field of civic education, through the lens of intercultural educational training. The Sant'Anna School of Advanced Studies in Pisa is organizing the first edition of the Advanced Training course “Civic Education, Intercultural Education and School”, as part of the PRIN 2022 Project - “UNITE, Universal design for education: legal perspectives for a new concept of intercultural education” in collaboration with the University of Pavia (UNIPV), project leader, and the University of Trento (UNITN).

The course, which is free and open to at least 50 participants, is aimed at teachers of upper secondary schools and proposes a new approach to teaching civic education that takes into account both the new regulations that will come into force starting from the 2024/2025 school year, and the intercultural perspective in a universal key. According to the Maastricht Declaration of November 15-17, 2002, intercultural education consists of a holistic approach that includes education for development, human rights education, education for sustainable development, education for peace and conflict prevention, which constitute the global dimensions of education for citizenship.

The program

The course will be online, will last a total of 9 hours and is divided into 3 different sessions. The program focuses on the Constitution and civic education courses, intercultural education, civic education and religion or belief; civic education, intercultural education and the fight against educational poverty. The scientific committee is made up of Prof. Francesca Biondi Dal Monte (Scuola Superiore Sant'Anna), Prof. Giuditta Matucci (University of Pavia), and Prof. Davide Strazzari (University of Trento).
